Customer Question
Could you explain what the difference between MPMM Project Management Methodology and Primavera5 is? As I am really interested to purchase MPMM Project Management Methodology, however can’t undertand the difference as they are both software.

Whereas Primavera is project management software that helps you track projects. It doesn’t include any templates. If you are looking for project management software, then a good alternative to Primavera (which is expensive) is ProjectManager.com which is Online Project Management Software.

Query: We are currently evaluating the MPMM project management software , and I would appreciate your feedback on the following questions:
- Which processes would be available to keep a set of customized project management methodology templates synchronised over multiple machines? Is there anything beyond manual export / import?
- Is there an ‘online version’ available, as indicated on a number of resources on the web?
- What does ‘server edition available’ mean in the list of version features?

- Yes. When multiple licenses are purchased, we can send you our multi-user / server edition. This allows you to install the database on a shared server and for all of your PC clients to access it. You need a single license for each PC client, that you wish to access the shared database. But you don’t need a separate license for the shared database itself.

Enquiry: I want to create a presentation for a project management environment. I didn’t see any options in the trial mode of MPMM Project Management Methodology. However the Project Management newsletter claims that through the MPMM Methodology we can create presentations. If it does so, is the MPMM Presentation the same quality as Microsoft PowerPoint.
Please provide a detailed view on this aspect of the MPMM Project Management Process package.
Answer: Nice to hear from you. Yes it’s true that you can use MPMM to help you create presentations. There are 2 parts to creating a presentation: 1) Creating all of the content, and 2) building the physical presentation itself.
MPMM helps you with 1) by giving you almost all of the content you need for presentations on projects. However it doesn’t actually do the presentation formatting itself as per 2) above. For that, most people use Microsoft Project PowerPoint.

Question: Many thanks for your support, I tried to use the web address mentioned (http://www.sendspace.com/file/sk8vi5) but it does not work, it is blocked by our server, I don’t know why. Does MPMM Project Methodology have another web site we can use.
Answer: The problem is that it’s an .exe file and firewalls certainly don’t like this type of files. Below is the file as a Zip file so it will get through your firewall. You will need to rename the file as an .exe before you run it. Here’s what to do:
In Windows XP
- Right mouse click on the start button and select Explore
- Then on the main menu at the top, click Tools / Folder Options and then the View tab. Then untick the item “Hide extensions for known file types”
- Then download this file http://www.sendspace.com/file/l2h9q3 from the Download Link at the bottom and save the file to your My Documents folder on your PC. Then rename the last 4 characters of the document file name, from “.zip” to “.exe”
- Then double click on the file and it should run fine
- When you have finished, you can click on the Project Management Tools / Folder Options and then the View tab. Then tick the item “Hide extensions for known file types” to go back to their previous view of their files
- At this point, MPMM Project Methodology will be uninstalled on your PC.

We just got the approval of our Board to procure an off-the-shelf project management professional methodology. We’re seriously considering MPMM. But if it is alright with you, may I ask MPMM’s edge over IIL’s Unified Project Management Methodology.
Also, do you have any requirements from our end for our procurement of MPMM if ever? Do you also accept bank transfer as payment method? Under our procurement system, we cannot pay through credit card, check or paypal?

And it’s a great question you’ve asked. There are actually a lot of differences between MPMM and UPMM (lets call it “IIL”). I have listed the differences for you as follows:
- Price: IIL is much more expensive than MPMM. It’s typically priced at between $10,000 – $250,000 USD depending on the size of your organization. And it usually needs a suite of consulting services to implement it, which is why it’s so expensive. Whereas MPMM is just $9,995 for an organization wide license and you have the flexibility of scale down to the Project Management Professional edition (which starts from just $495) if you wish.
- Free Trial: You can’t try IIL easily, it requires their assistance to do to. However MPMM can be downloaded and installed by yourself on the internet at any time.
- Consulting: You need consulting services from IIL to be able to customize IIL. So you’re locked in to using their services long term Whereas you can customize MPMM yourself whenever you want, by simply editing the methodologies included and clicking “Save”.
- Customizations: IIL has a set number of methodologies content included. Whereas with MPMM, you can create and customize as many methodologies as you wish. We allow you to import your existing methodology content easily as well.
- Integration: IIL has a fixed format. Whereas MPMM is also integrated with Microsoft Word, allowing you to import Microsoft Project Word documents and edit them within MPMM itself.
- Scalability: IIL is not easily scalable. Whereas for MPMM, you can choose the processes you want to work with and delete the rest.
- Publishing: In MPMM Enterprise, you can quickly and easily publish your methodologies to the intranet.
- Usage: IIL have just a few hundred customer installations. Whereas more than 150,000 Project Teams around the world use MPMM. We’re the market leaders due to the ability to create, customize and publish as many project methodologies as you wish, through the simple click of a button.
In short, MPMM is much cheaper, more scalable, more flexible and easier to use than IIL.

Q: Does MPMM provide in Europe any certification services for organizations, and can certify that the whole project management system established in an organization (a company) is aligned to the Method123 Methodology? If yes, what are the conditions to achieve that certification? What is the certification process? What does this certificate say? How long is the certificate valid? What is MPMM responsibility for the system, when system is certified? Who has been certified in Europe?

Web Project Management User Question
I need to purchase a third Multi-User License and would like instructions on where to set MPMM to point to a central location so the three users can share the one database?

Here are the procedures for installing the Multi-User version of MPMM Project Management Professional.
1) Uninstall MPMM
- If you already have MPMM Professional installed on your PC, perform these steps…
- First, backup your MPMM content (using the Tools / Backup Content option) to your file folder
- Then take a note of your serial number (using the Help / About MPMM option)
- Use the Windows Control Panel “Add or Remove Programs” feature to uninstall MPMM
- Ask each of your licensed colleagues to perform these same steps
2) Install MPMM Multi-User (Server version)
- Download and install the Server version of MPMM Multi-User:

- As part of the installation process, choose a folder on your central server to store the MPMM database. This folder should be accessible by each of the other licensed users.
- Enter your serial number and activate online. Your software is now accessing the central database.
3) Install MPMM Multi-User (Client version)
- Your colleagues will need to perform the following steps, to install MPMM Multi-user and to access the central database you have created, on your shared file folder…
- Download and install the Client version of MPMM Multi-User:

- As part of the installation process, select the database on your central server, that was installed as part of step 1.
- Enter your serial number and activate online. The software is now accessing the central database.
